On June 21st, the global community once again came together to celebrate International Yoga Day, it is instructive to recollect the school’s experience with it. Yoga and meditation hold special significance for us
and has been at the Heart of Sandepani’s Curriculum for the past twenty years.
From the very onset, the School recognised it as a vital component of its non-academic curriculum and charted a unique course by combining Tai chi and yoga for our students and deeply Integrating yoga into the daily routine of the students. It is particularly important to note the contribution of Anna Bella, a practitioner of Yoga and Tai chi from Italy with whom we had a decade long collaboration to consistently nurtured generations of students with the values of mindfulness, discipline, and inner balance.
Yoga is more than a physical activity at Sandepani—it is a way of life. Students begin their mornings with guided yoga sessions that include asanas (postures), pranayama (breath control), and dhyana (meditation). These practices help sharpen concentration, reduce stress, and enhance overall health, forming a strong foundation for academic and personal success.
This year’s International Yoga Day celebrations at Sandepani were vibrant and inspiring.
Teachers report significant improvements in students’ emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, and focus. Alumni often cite their early exposure to yoga as a crucial factor in handling academic pressures and personal challenges beyond school.
As Sandepani looks to the future, the school aims to deepen this integration.
International Yoga Day at Sandepani is not just a celebration—it is a reaffirmation of a long-standing belief in the power of self reflection and inner discipline to shape a healthier, compassionate and conscious society. With two decades of committed practice and innovation, Sandepani School continues to serve as a model for educational institutions worldwide, proving that true education nurtures both the mind and the spirit
